Spartanburg gay friendly bars

The club, on Warren H. Abernathy Highway, is scheduled to close March 31 and its board is hopeful to find a new location soon. The nightclub's board met this week to discuss options. He tried to find another place, but it turned out he needs to turn the nightclub into a paint shop.

Club South 29 searching for new location in Spartanburg

Miller said club's board hopes to find a building of comparable size and enough parking to meet demand. Several places have already been considered but didn't work out because they lacked adequate parking space. The property where the club is currently is owned by Westside Collision, an auto body shop. Miller said the landlord gave the nightclub a day notice to leave.

He's optimistic the Club South 29 will reopen in another building, possibly in the same vicinity. It's just a matter of when and where we can make it work. Everybody that works here is an integral part of the functionality of this place. We want to bar all that continue. Miller said the nightclub draws people from all walks of life, gay and straight, to have a good time with their friends, he said.

Club South 29 is known for its high-energy dance music and theme parties. On an average night, the club draws about people. A patio out back also allows customers a place to socialize. Gay South 29 employee Jarett Ogle-Babb met many of his close friends at the club. It's been a safe place to socialize, he said.

It's kept me out of trouble. I've met so many awesome people out here. The club features an upstairs bar and lounge. It's featured drag queen shows and other entertainers through the years. The music played in the club includes hip-hop and electronica, which helps get the dance parties spartanburg.

The club also holds annual fundraisers for a variety of organizations in the city. Ward said she enjoyed visiting the club.
